I know a young man who when he was a boy, referred to himself and his friends as the "Rockefellers" I always thought that was funny and so I wanted to work it into a song. In addition, when I used to talk to my children about dating I would tell them to be careful who they dated because "like turns to love". I am amazed I worked both into this song.

Words and Music by Tom Keating
Cadillac
I USED TO CALL HER CADILLAC, BUILT FOR COMFORT MORE THAN SPEED
SHE WOULD LAUGH AND CALL ME ROCKEFELLER, THOUGH I WAS POOR AS I COULD BE
WE USED TO WALK ALONG THE RIVER, HOLDING HANDS AND PLAYING GAMES
THEN ONE DAY SHE PUT HER LIPS ON MINE AND I KNEW SOMEHOW I’D NEVER BE THE SAME
OH CADILAC, WHO KNEW THAT PUSH WOULD TURN TO SHOVE?
WE STARTED OUR AS FRIENDS AND THEN IT FINALLY HAPPENED
SOMEHOW IT WENT FROM LIKE TO LOVE
WHERE DOES IT GO ? THE YEARS THEY JUST KEEP ROLLING BY
I THINK SOMEHOW IT REALLY DOESN’T MATTER SO LONG AS YOU’RE STILL BY MY SIDE
NOW WHEN I TRAVEL FAR FROM HOME
I LET MY MIND ROLL GENTLY BACK
I LIKE TO THINK ABOUT THOSE LAZY SUMMERS I GOT TO SPEND WITH CANDILLAC
NOW WE STILL WALK ALONG THE RIVER
EVEN AFTER ALL THIS WHILE
I’M STILL IN LOVE JUST LIKE WE’VE ALWAYS BEEN
‘CAUSE CADILLAC’S THEY NEVER LOSE THEIR STYLE
