I had the tune for this for quite a while and then Lori went out of town for about ten days while Erin (one of our daughters) had a baby. During the week she was gone I took a night flight to Dallas for work and chatted about the idea for this with a person sitting next to me for most of the flight. By the end of the week I was lonely enough and it came into focus. Then I was able to write it in just a few minutes.
lyrics
He waits for night
to see the stars
When they come out, he looks everywhere for any sign of things to come
He walks all night
Too tired to sleep
The words that she said, are a song that he can’t seem to get out of his head
Hold on to hope
Don’t let it fade
Keep it alive in your heart so you get through one more day
Break
When sunrise comes
He turns for home
Its more than a wish, could today be the day that she’ll walk back through that door
Hold on to hope
Don’t let it fade
Keep it alive in your heart so you get through one more day
