Inspiration for this song came on a beach trip with my family. I'd been working on the tune but had no lyrics. I was listening to an oldies station and heard the Rolling Stones covering "Broadway Shuffel". In the middle of the song, someone says "do the Monkeyshine". Later that afternoon on the beach, the first line of the song came to me, "I heard it comming through the radio". After that, the rest of the song only took a few minutes.
